Activities

An Activity in Konekti is "something that happens to an object" (a lifecycle change), such as creation, modification, approval, or confirmation

An activity has four key inputs:

  1. A name

This is the reference label for the activity, used consistently throughout Konekti and in any connected downstream systems.

  2. A source table

The table supplying the data from which the activity is constructed. Each row—after any applied filters—must represent a single instance of the activity. It is possible to have multiple timestamps on a single row, leading to multiple activities.

  3. The timestamp

A column that indicates the time the activity took place. This can be a single column, or a combination.

  4. Filters

Conditions that narrow down the source table to include only the rows relevant to the specific activity being defined.

Activity Types

Activities can be stored in various types of tables. This section contains the main types, and the fastest way to add them to your event store.

tip

Follow the Tutorials for a detailed explanation of how to add each activity type.

1. Object Source

In this type, the activity is a column in the object table - where each row represents an object instance. To add them to the model, create the Object first. Open the Object, hover over the column in the preview that contains the activity timestamp, and click Add activity.

Example - Purchase Order Line Table

Activities:

  • Create Purchase Order Line (Created_date_time)
  • Latest Goods Receival Date on PO Line (Latest_GR_Date)

2. Workflow Log

In this type, each row describes an activity in a workflow. Use the Add activity button to easily add activities from the 'Workflow log' type. Next, use the filter to select lines of a unique type to add to an activity. If you want to add (almost) all acitivities at once, use the batch activity.

Example - Workflow Log of the Purchase Order Approval Flow

3. Change Log

In this type, each row explains a field change in the object table. Use the Add activity button to easily add activities from the 'Changelog' type. Next, use the filter to select lines of a unique type to add to an activity. If you want to add (almost) all acitivities at once, use the batch activity.
