Important Concepts

The event store is your process data repository, organized into:

  • Objects: Entities in your process, such as Leads, Quotes, Orders, Customers, Applications, and more.
  • Activities: Actions or events in your process, such as such as Create lead, Present quote, or Reject application.

These elements form the building blocks of your event log.

Understanding the Setup

Let's explore two examples:

1. Lead-to-Order Example

In the Sales process Lead-to-Order, consider these objects: Lead, Quote, and Order.

  1. Lead Creation: The process starts with creating and qualifying a Lead.
  2. Quote Generation: For qualified leads, generate a Quote specifying products or services with prices, then present it to the lead customer.
  3. Order Creation: Successful sales result in creating an Order.

2. Application-to-Loan Example

In the banking process Application-to-Loan, consider these objects: Customer, Application, Offer, and Background check.

  1. Application Submission: A Customer submits an Application for a loan, which the bank can accept or reject.
  2. Offer Generation: Upon accepting the Application, create a Loan Offer.
  3. Background Check: Send an Offer only to customers whose last Background Check was positive. Background checks are periodic and essential for other processes.

Understanding the structure of objects, activities, and their relationships is crucial. Let's explore each concept in more detail.
